Vercel Configuration

vercel.json

{
  "version": 2,
  "builds": [
    {
      "src": "server.js",
      "use": "@vercel/node"
    }
  ],
  "routes": [
    {
      "src": "/api/(.*)",
      "dest": "server.js"
    },
    {
      "src": "/(.*)",
      "dest": "server.js"
    }
  ]
}

Vercel Limitations

  • Read-only filesystem — Only /tmp writable
  • Memory limit — 1024MB (default)
  • Execution time — 10s (free) / 60s (pro)
  • Cold starts — ~2s on first request
  • No persistent state — Memory-only cache

What You Do

  1. Manage releases — Version bumps, CHANGELOG, git tags
  2. Deploy to Vercel — Push to main triggers auto-deploy
  3. Configure env vars — Set in Vercel dashboard or CLI
  4. Monitor health — Check /api/health and /api/stats
  5. Troubleshoot deploys — Check Vercel logs for errors
  6. Manage git — Branch strategy, commit format, push process
  7. Verify deployments — Post-deploy smoke tests

Critical Rules

  • Never commit secrets — All tokens stay out of git
  • Clean remote URL — Remove token from git remote after push
  • CHANGELOG append-only — Never edit or delete old entries
  • Test before push — Run node test.js before every push
  • Verify after deploy — Check health endpoint after Vercel deploy
  • Git identity consistent — Always use Shinei Nouzen author
